MapleReady · The Canadian business-readiness scorecard

Are you ready to
survive the AI age?

MapleReady scores your business on two questions: how findable and trustworthy you look online — to customers, Google, and the AI assistants now answering for them — and whether your data and AI use will not bite you later. Free instant audit, no login.

The two questions

AI changed how customers find you — and how you get caught out

MapleReady measures both sides. Most tools measure neither honestly.

Are you findable & trustworthy?

Customers used to Google you. Now they ask an AI assistant, and it answers from whatever it can read about you. If your site, reviews, structured data and email all look legitimate, you get cited and chosen. If not, you are invisible — even to people ready to buy.

Will your data & AI use bite you later?

Canada has real, in-force rules: PIPEDA privacy, Quebec Law 25, CASL email consent, AODA/WCAG accessibility. Add AI tools to the mix and the risk grows. MapleReady flags where you are exposed — in plain English, with what it costs to fix and whether you can do it yourself.

What we score

The 11 pillars of business readiness

From "are you legally allowed to operate?" to "can an AI assistant cite you?" — scored in one place.

1

Business Legitimacy

BN, GST/HST, incorporation, licences, insurance, WSIB — the legal baseline to operate in Canada.

2

Brand Foundation

A real domain, brand email, logo and consistent name so you look like a business, not a hobby.

3

Digital Assets

A live website on your own domain, HTTPS enforced, privacy policy, accessibility statement.

4

Local Presence

Consistent name/address/phone across the web so customers — and maps — can actually find you.

5

Search Presence (SEO)

Mobile-first, fast pages, alt text and structured data so Google ranks you.

6

AI Presence (AEO)

Markup, robots rules and a known-entity footprint so AI assistants can cite you, not skip you.

7

Reputation

Reviews monitored and answered across Google, Facebook and your sector.

8

Conversion Systems

Forms, CRM and follow-up so the visitors you earn turn into booked work.

9

Analytics

GA4 or Plausible installed so you can see what is working instead of guessing.

10

Security, Privacy & Accessibility

Privacy, CASL email rules, WCAG accessibility and email security done right.

11

AI Use & Governance

A written record of how your business uses AI, so an AI mistake does not become your liability.

How we stack up

MapleReady vs the alternatives

Other tools score your website, or manage your listings, or check one privacy law, or track AI search — MapleReady is the only Canadian-built check that scores all of it, including PIPEDA, CASL, Law 25 and AODA, in plain language.

Each tool above does its one job well — DIY graders give a quick credibility read, listing platforms like BrightLocal, Whitespark and Moz manage citations and reviews, point-tools deep-scan a single law, and AI-visibility platforms like Profound and Yext track answer-engine presence. We are not claiming to manage listings or reviews better than those specialists. The white space is the combination: one Canadian readiness score across website, listings, all four in-force Canadian laws, and AI discoverability. On pricing: YellowPages is sold by sales quote, typically several hundred dollars a month on a contract; Yext and Profound are enterprise-priced; Vendasta is a Canadian platform sold through agencies. MapleReady is guidance and tooling, not legal advice, and we never promise specific rankings.

One payment a year keeps your Presence Score in the top 99–100% all year — with an automatic monthly re-scan and a progress report every month from your baseline, every report kept as proof it is working. Prices are CAD, billed annually: Lite $10/year, Standard $60/year, Plus $149/year. The tier you pick depends on how many tasks you want AI assistance with; the free score and full audit always carry no charge.
* Every plan includes Maple AI tokens — use them at your discretion across the entire Maple ecosystem.

The ladder is simple: free score → full audit free to use (AI actions use Maple AI tokens) → annual retention ($10–149/year, one payment a year — not monthly) with automatic monthly re-scans and reports → done-for-you if you would rather we handle it. You never pay to find out where you stand.

Questions & answers

MapleReady FAQ: readiness, Canadian compliance & AI search

Plain-English answers to what Canadian owners actually ask — about the Presence Score, PIPEDA, CASL, Law 25, AODA, AI discoverability, the free audit and the annual retention service. MapleReady is guidance, not legal advice.

What is MapleReady?
MapleReady is a Canadian-built readiness scorecard for small businesses. It checks how findable and trustworthy your business looks online — to customers, search engines, and the AI assistants now answering for them — and whether your data and AI practices meet in-force Canadian rules. You get an honest, itemized score, not an agency pitch.
What is a Presence Score?
Your Presence Score is a single number from 0 to 100 that sums up your business readiness across all eleven pillars. It rolls up more than a hundred individual checks into one figure you can track over time. Higher means more findable, more trustworthy, and better protected against compliance and AI risk.
What does "ready to survive the AI age" actually mean?
It means two things. First, how findable and trustworthy your business looks online — to customers, to Google, and now to AI assistants that answer questions for them. Second, whether your data practices and AI use will not come back to bite you legally. MapleReady scores both.
What exactly does MapleReady check?
Eleven pillars: legitimacy, brand, digital presence, local listings, search (SEO), AI discoverability (AEO), reputation, conversion, analytics, security and compliance, and AI use and governance. Each pillar holds several concrete checks — over a hundred items total — and each item explains why it matters, what it costs, and whether you can do it yourself.
What is the AI Use and Governance pillar?
It checks whether you keep a written record of how your business uses AI — which tools, for what, and who reviews the output. If an AI tool makes a mistake on your behalf, that record is what keeps the error from becoming your liability. It is plain documentation, not red tape.
What is PIPEDA and does it apply to my business?
PIPEDA is Canada's federal privacy law. If your business collects personal information — names, emails, payment details — in the course of commercial activity, it generally applies to you. MapleReady flags the basics: a real privacy policy, a contact for privacy questions, and consent for what you collect. It is guidance, not legal advice.
What is CASL and how does it affect my email?
CASL is Canada's anti-spam law. It governs commercial email and texts: you generally need consent to send, a clear sender identity, and a working unsubscribe link. MapleReady checks for those signals so your marketing does not put you at risk. Penalties for ignoring CASL can be significant, so the basics matter.
What is Quebec's Law 25?
Law 25 is Quebec's modernized privacy law, phased in through 2022 to 2024. It adds stronger consent, breach-reporting, and a requirement to name a person responsible for privacy. If you serve Quebec residents it can apply even from outside the province. MapleReady flags the readiness signals; a lawyer confirms specifics.
What is AODA and do I need to worry about accessibility?
AODA is Ontario's accessibility law, and it leans on the WCAG web standard. Even outside Ontario, accessible websites reach more customers and reduce legal exposure. MapleReady checks practical signals — alt text, contrast, structure, an accessibility statement — so people using assistive technology can actually use your site.
Are AIDA and the CPPA Canadian law yet?
No. AIDA (the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act) and the CPPA were proposed in Bill C-27, which did not become law. We will never tell you they are in force or scare you with them. MapleReady only scores real, enacted rules — PIPEDA, CASL, Law 25, and accessibility standards.
Will my emails go to spam, and can MapleReady tell?
MapleReady checks the technical signals that decide deliverability: whether your domain has SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records set up correctly. Missing or broken records are the most common reason legitimate business email lands in spam. It cannot read your inbox, but it flags the gaps that cause the problem.
Can AI assistants find and recommend my business?
Increasingly, customers ask an AI assistant instead of searching Google, and it answers from what it can read about you. MapleReady's AEO pillar checks your structured data, robots rules, and known-entity footprint — the signals that let assistants cite you confidently instead of skipping you for a competitor.
What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?
SEO helps people find you in a list of search results. AEO — Answer Engine Optimization — helps AI assistants understand and cite your business when they answer a question directly. MapleReady scores both, because customers now use both. Strong markup and a clear online identity feed each one.
Why is my business hard to find online?
Usually it is a handful of fixable gaps: inconsistent name, address and phone across listings; missing structured data; a slow or non-mobile site; or no reviews. MapleReady's local, search and reputation pillars pinpoint which ones apply to you and rank them by impact, so you fix the things that actually move the needle.
Is the MapleReady audit free?
Yes. Enter your website and you get an instant Presence Score plus your top five gaps, with no login and no obligation. The full itemized audit across all eleven pillars is free to use — just create a free account to save your results. There is no charge to see where you stand; AI-assisted actions use Maple AI tokens.
Will running the audit change anything on my site?
No. The audit only reads public information about your domain and website — DNS, your certificate, your homepage, robots.txt. It never logs in, never changes a setting, and never sends email on your behalf. It is completely read-only and safe to run.
How long does the free audit take?
Under a minute. You enter your website address, the engine reads public signals about your domain and site, and it returns your Presence Score with your top five gaps right away. There is no account to create for the instant score and no sales call required to see it.
How much does the MapleReady retention service cost?
The retention service is a single annual payment, currently $10–149/year (final figure being confirmed) — not a monthly subscription. One payment a year keeps your Presence Score in the top tier all year, with an automatic monthly re-scan and a progress report every month from your baseline.
Is the retention service monthly or annual?
Annual. You pay once a year, not every month. That one payment covers an automatic monthly re-scan of your readiness and a monthly progress report measured from your starting baseline. Every report is kept as proof the work is paying off, so you can see exactly what changed over the year.
What do the monthly re-scans and reports include?
Each month the engine automatically re-checks your eleven pillars and emails you a progress report compared to your baseline. It shows what improved, what slipped, and any new gaps — such as an expiring certificate or a broken email record. Every report is retained, so you build a documented history of your readiness.
Why keep every monthly report?
Because retained reports are proof the service is working. Over a year you accumulate a clear record of your Presence Score climbing and staying high, plus evidence you addressed compliance and findability gaps. That history is useful for your own peace of mind and for showing partners or insurers you take readiness seriously.
Can you fix the gaps for me instead of me doing it?
Yes. The done-for-you path means Joel & Nanz Inc. implements the fixes for you — privacy basics, email deliverability, listings, accessibility, structured data and more — rather than handing you a checklist. You stay in control and only choose it if you would rather not do the work yourself.
Do I have to buy anything to use MapleReady?
No. The instant Presence Score and the full eleven-pillar audit are free, and many gaps you can fix yourself with the guidance provided. You only pay if you want the annual retention service's monthly re-scans and reports, or you want us to do the fixes for you.
What if a gap is something no Maple product covers?
That happens, and we are honest about it. If your fix sits outside the MapleWorkSuite toolkit — say a specialized legal review or a niche integration — MapleReady tells you plainly and points you in the right direction. You can reach out to Joel & Nanz Inc. and we will help you find the right path.
Is MapleReady available in French?
Yes. MapleReady is built for Canada, and Canada is bilingual. The scorecard and reports are designed to work in English and French, which also matters for serving Quebec customers and meeting Law 25 expectations. Bilingual readiness is part of looking legitimate to every customer across the country.
What does MapleReady do with my data?
The free audit reads only public information about your domain and website. We do not log into your accounts or sell your data. As a Canadian business ourselves we follow PIPEDA and keep what we collect to what the service needs. You can ask us about your data anytime through Joel & Nanz Inc.
Who is behind MapleReady?
MapleReady is built by Joel & Nanz Inc., a Canadian company based in Moncton, New Brunswick, as part of the MapleWorkSuite product family. It is made for Canadian small businesses, with Canadian compliance and bilingual service built in from the start — not a US tool with a maple leaf added on.
Is MapleReady legal advice?
No. MapleReady is guidance and tooling that flags readiness signals across privacy, anti-spam, accessibility and discoverability. It helps you spot and prioritize gaps in plain English, but it does not replace a lawyer or accountant. For binding compliance questions, confirm specifics with a qualified professional.
Does MapleReady guarantee I will rank higher on Google?
No, and anyone who guarantees rankings is not being straight with you. MapleReady shows you the concrete readiness gaps that hold most small businesses back and ranks them by impact. Fixing them improves your odds with search engines, AI assistants and customers — but no honest tool promises a specific ranking.
